After a week off, our team competed at CFL #2 at Ridge HS on Saturday. Veterans got some great fine-tuning opportunities, novices got some great experience, and we did quite well for ourselves overall. Take a look:

Perhaps you’ve already heard about some other excitement from the tournament. Two of our students had the great fortune to debate Stephen Colbert’s son this weekend at CFL #2. What was perhaps more surprising to them was that when they walked in their room, Mr. Colbert was sitting in the back, ready to watch the debate. Mr. Colbert is also a speech and debate alumni from his childhood in South Carolina, so it was really great to see him supporting the activity. NSDA Nationals Results

Senior Harry Kern travelled to Salt Lake City this week for NSDA Nationals. He helped represent Team NJ in the World Schools Debate event as part of a five-member team with students from other schools. The team advanced to the national octafinals, earning tenth place overall! Harry also ranked as the 34th best speaker in the tournament out of over 425 total. Congratulations!

NCFL Grand Nationals Results

Five RHS Forensics team members travelled to Sacramento, CA for Memorial Day weekend for the NCFL Grand National Championship.

Congratulations to senior Rachel Loia (Oral Interpretation) and the senior team of Alyssa Spagnuolo and Noah Taylor (Duo Interpretation) for placing in the top 48 nationally in their events as national octafinialists!
